So… You probably know by now that Reddit has a music section where both artists and music browsers can get music noticed. Thanks to access to Reddit API, a service called Radio Reddit has been created. Radio Reddit is a website that integrates directly with Reddit. You use your Reddit credentials to log in to the site, and then you can upload your original music to be noticed. The music is then put in their subreddit for people to vote on. Radio Reddit has top charts so you can find what’s being listened to and voted for the most.
Radio Reddit now has their very own Android app. Being a big music fan and always looking to expand my music library, I decided to go ahead and give the app a try.
The design of the app when listening to music is very clean. By clicking the Choose Station button, you can select which genre of music you want to listen to. Radio Reddit will then find music from their subreddit and play it for you. You can use the up and down buttons to skip through music as well.
I will warn you that the free version of this app is very limited. That’s fine though, because the free version is listed as a lite version, so that’s expected. After all, it’s a radio app, so there’s really not much you can do to it in the way of features. You won’t get top charts or most listened in the lite version of this app.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a radio application on Android that is going to be a ton of artists you’ve never heard of, this app will do just that. This is a great app for discovering new artists that might become the next famous artist down the road. However, if you like the music you are getting with the lite version, I would definitely recommend the pro version for $2.00. It helps support Radio Reddit, and you’ll get the full version of the app.
