Archos 80 Xenon appears in Europe, its an 8” tab

These days ever tablet manufacture is aiming to bet the iPad Mini. Archos is also jumping on the bandwagon it seems and its Archos 80 Xenon has surfaced in Europe. Archos has been making great looking yet affordable Android tablets and it looks like that the company will be continuing its tradition with Archos 80 Xenon.

The Archos 80 Xenon is an 8 inch tablet, which is why we called it the next “iPad Mini Killer”. The tablet has quite a bit similarities with Apple’s iPad Mini, the screen size and resolution are the same. The Archos 80 Xenon has an 8 inch screen with only 1024 x 768 pixels resolution. The tablet runs on a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and there is probably one GB of RAM in there. There is unfortunately only 4 GB of internal storage, which is baffling because this is not 2010. None the less you can expand the storage via the microSD card, but still it doesn’t explain why the company opted for such a low storage.

The Archos 80 Xenon runs on Android version 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The rest of the specs are not known yet as the device is yet to be revealed by Archos. There will be 3G connectivity available on the Archos 80 Xenon and the price is 226 Euros (which is around $300). The price is actually much affordable than the iPad Mini which is retailing at $559 these days. To be honest the asking price, which is yet to be officially acknowledged by the company, is a little bit high. The Archos 80 Xenon is clearly made of plastic which is looking of the cheap kind, not to mention that the tablet looks quite thick. We will get back to you after the Archos 80 Xenon is officially announced.
