Asus Transformer Book T100, will Windows succeed?

Asus Transformer Book T100

Asus has announced their latest laptop/tablet hybrid, the Transformer Book T100. Earlier this month in Berlin the company announced the Transformer Book T300 and the Transformer Book Trio. The Transformer Book T300 is the high end Widows tablet/laptop device while the Transformer Book Trio is a Windows/Android hybrid thing. The Transformer Book T100 how every will run on only Windows 8.1 and will come with a keyboard dock. Although we really like the Transformer Book T300, we feel scared to invest such a large amount of cash on a relatively unknown device.

The Transformer Book T100 however is a slightly affordable affair. The Transformer Book T100 will only cost $349 while running a full version of Windows 8.1. This is where we as Android fans feel scared. Android tablets while coming at affordable prices might not be able to compare with the quality of Transformer Book T100. Especially the tablets available at the $350 price point. The Transformer Book T100 packs a 10.1 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1366 x 786 pixels. A quad core Intel Atom Bay Trail processor which will be able to run the tablet for 11 hours is also there. There is 2 GB of RAM and a keyboard dock.

The Transformer Book T100 will come in two storage variations the $349 one will have 32 GB of storage while the 64 GB version will only be $399. Now if all the Windows 8.1 tablets are priced like this, it will be only a short time before they begin chipping at the Android tablet markets. While Android tablets are great, Windows platform will always remain the favorite for those who want to get some work done on a familiar platform. I personally am a fan of the Windows 8.1 and have been using it on my laptop and gaming PC. Android needs to make quality devices at an affordable price otherwise its Transformer Book T100 time baby!
