Yesterday we talked about HTC M4 getting a metallic chassis, today we have a new smartphone HTC 608T, which also falls squarely into the same mid-range category. With the HTC One out of the way HTC apparently is done with the flagship top end smartphones, at least for the time being. The Taiwanese manufacturer is aiming to target the mid-range market with its middle tier smartphone which will hopefully be as stylish as the HTC One, and yet come a much affordable price.
After all this is the right move, speaking strictly in the business sense that is. Why leave the mid to low end market open for competitors like Samsung and Sony. The HTC 608T has recently leaked and is said to have average specs, leading us to believe it is a mid-ranger device. The HTC 608T is supposed to pack a 4.5 screen which is somewhere between the HTC One and the recently released HTC First. The 4.5 inch screen will only have qHD resolution, further solidifying out belief that it is indeed a budget friendly smartphone.
The rest of the specs are also rather unimpressive, there is a quad core Snapdragon 400 processor which will be clocked at 1.4 GHz and there is 1 GB of RAM. The HTC 608T is also supposed to pack an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, some rumors suggest that the smartphone even may have the latest ultrapixel technology. If this is indeed true, the HTC 608T will have the upper hand when it comes to camera from the flagship HTC One (we highly doubt this though). Other than that the HTC 608T will have HTC Sense 5.0 user interface running on top of Android version 4.2 Jelly Bean.
No word on when or under what name the HTC 608T will be released. We will get back to you after obtaining solid details.
