Android Market Doubles to 20,000 Apps in 5 Months
The Android Market has doubled its size over the last five month, going from 10,000 to 20,000 apps. According to Androlib, the number of apps hit the milestone earlier today and shows no sign of slowing. Take a look at the chart below and you’ll see the number of new applications arriving in the Market is growing month to month. At this rate, the number should hit 30,000 in the next 2-3 months.
As far as the mix between paid and free apps goes, things haven’t changed much in the last 5 months. Whereas the mix was 35.7% paid apps before, it’s slightly higher at 37.7%.
