Leaked 2013 Tablet Roadmap from Samsung Reveals New Tablets Including the Nexus 11!

Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-2The Samsung Galaxy S4 has been the centre of most discussion and news lately, as far as anything Samsung is concerned. other than some bits about the rumored Galaxy Note 3, which isn’t quite convincing enough, and Samsung’s announcement of the Galaxy Tab 3 earlier today. However, a leaked 2013 Tablet roadmap uncoverd by Sammobile, the unofficially official source for all things Samsung reveals that Sammy has four more tablets in the works , all of them premium, and sporting higher specs than the Galaxy Tab 3! These new tablets are purportedly the Tab DUOS (Dual-SIM tablet), Tab 8.0 AMOLED, Tab 11 Super PLS TFT, and hold your breath!! – a Nexus 11.

Going by Samsung’s record of dishing out a wide range of products which can fit the needs of virtually every type of user and price point conceivable, this seems just about right. Lets have a look at the new tablets Samsung has in the pipeline for us this year. Starting with the Tab DUOS – a 7-inch slate with dual-SIM capability, an older dual-core processor and a 1024 x 600 pixels display – this seems to be clearly a budget offering with the dual-SIM functionality included for those who may find it useful.

Other than the Tab DUOS, all the other three seem to be more in-keeping with the higher end of the spectrum. The Tab 8.0 AMOLED will feature a FullHD 1080p display and a Quad-Core Cortex A9 based Exynos 4412 processor. The Tab 11 on the other hand, will feature a TFT LCD display but house a newer Dual-Core Cortex A15 Exynos 5250 chip, which incidentally, is the same chip Samsung put into the Nexus 10.

Coming to the star of the show – the Nexus 11. Now this is the first time we are hearing of this fella, and the rumors suggest that Google is yet to approve this device. Which means that this cannot be necessarily taken as concrete evidence of the existence of this device. But then, Samsung has been known to be super secretive about such devices, as we have seen earlier with the Nexus 10. But if this indeed turns out to be true, then this could be the first tablet in the world to come with an octa-core processor – the Exynos 5410, which is the same ARM Cortex A15/A7 big.LITTLE chip that Samsung has packed into the international version of the Galaxy S4. Also, the Nexus 11 will supposedly use a TFT LCD display as opposed to Samsung’s proprietary AMOLED tech.

Here are all the rumored specs of each of these new babies, listed below for your reference.

As you can see, the microSD card slot is conspicuously absent in the Nexus 11, which lends some amount of credence to the existence of this device, but I guess we will have to wait and watch. It could well be possible that we may see the Nexus 11 next month at its Google I/O event, though I doubt it if we will get to see it so soon considering Google hasn’t approved it yet. But given the fact that Samsung has already produced three Nexus devices for Google, chances are that Google is already aware of this tablet. Either way, it looks like 2013 is going to be an interesting year for tablet users too after all 🙂
