Our staff writer, Bilawal, had reported last month about the impending launch of the LG Optimus G Pro. The phone is to debut in the US sometime in Q2′ 2013. Looks like, that might be happening after all! Reports coming in today from the FCC, suggest that an LG phone with model number E980 paid a visit to the regulatory body. The E980 might well be the much awaited LG Optimus G Pro. Since, the AT&T version of the LG Optimus G was the E970, one might safely reason that the next phone in the series i.e. the LG Optimus G Pro, carries the model number – E980.
This also means that the AT&T network’s users will soon have another big screen alternative to the Galaxy Note 2. Like the Samsung phone, the Optimus G Pro boasts of a 5.5 inch full HD display, albeit with better resolution and pixel density than the former, along with a a 13MP camera. LG’s flagship phone is one big performance beast too! It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor and comes with 2 GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 600 has recently been making waves as one of the fastest SoC’s available today – if not the fastest! The LG Optimus G’s built-in 2100mAh battery also gets an upgrade to a removable 3140mAh power-pack in the Optimus G Pro version – now, that’s a lot of juice!
Sure, there are many Snapdragon 600 phones expected in the near future – and they could turn out better than the Optimus G Pro! However, at this point if the E980 is truly the AT&T LTE codename for the Korean giant’s flagship device, then, it sure has a head-start – the Galaxy Note 3 notwithstanding!
