Moto G officially announced by Motorola

Moto G was rumored to be the premier mid-range smartphone from Motorola and by today’s announcement it is confirmed. Moto G however is not a traditional mid-range smartphone, it is one of the best equipped and affordable ones. We are so impressed with the price of Moto G that we will be naming it the best mid-range smartphone you can get in today’s market, that is right Moto G beats the hell out of the competition.

First let’s take a look at what Moto G has to offer in terms of hardware. Moto G comes with a 4.5 inch screen with a HD 720 resolution. Nothing special here, we are used to the HD resolution on smartphones but Moto  G has a great 326 ppi making it a sharp screen. Motorola is saying that Moto G has a better screen than iPhone 5s and we agree, in terms of raw numbers that is. The smartphone also comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and Adreno 305 GPU. There is 1 GB of RAM and either 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage depending on the model.

The smartphone also has a hefty 2070 mAh battery which will be quite enough to power the HD screen and less demanding processor. There is a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash as well as a 1.3 MP front camera. Moto G comes with a slightly modified Android 4.3 but Motorola is promising a android 4.4 Kit Kat upgrade before January next year.

Now for the juicy part, Pricing. The 8 GB model of Moto G will be available for only $179 in the U.S while the 16 GB costs a bit more at only $199. At this price point Moto G is clearly the winner of this year’s mid-range category. The smartphone will be fully unlocked so there is that too. We are really impressed with Moto G, its specs and its amazing price. We admit that while Moto X was not the smartphone we hoped for, Moto G far exceeds our expectations. If you want to get a mid-range smartphone, Moto G is the best one to get.
