Smartwatches have been quite the fad recently and it is only natural in their evolution that they become fully operational mobile devices without requiring a smart phone. This is exactly what Omate is planning on doing by launching the kickstarter for a fully stand alone smartwatch called Rise.
For those of you who remember, this isn’t the first time Omate is doing something like this as they have made stand alone smartwatches in the past as well. The new addition to their roster however promises to top anything that is currently available on the market by having 2x Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.2 GHz, along with a Mali-400 handling the GPU department. The smartwatch also comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, along with a microSD slot for expansion. Apart from that, it will feature all the usual sensors along with a micro SIM card slot for users to be able to connect to the internet via 3G as well as having bluetooth and WiFi capability.
Rise will operate on a custom version of Lollipop which will not only be able to handle stock apps but will also give users the ability to download full apps from the Play Store as well. This on its own is more than enough to fund the startup campaign but to be honest, the looks of the watch don’t hurt either. The watch will support a sport watch look and will also be water and pressure resistant to some extent.
Of course, this is still all hypothetical and we still aren’t sure if they will manage to meet their set goal or not but from how things went for the Chinese manufacturer last time, we are quite optimistic about the watch. The campaign will launch on December 7, 2015 and the first 500 devices will be sold for only $199 followed by the next 500 being sold for $209. Which considering the retail price of $349, the manufacturer has set up after the campaign has finished, is quite a steal. So if you are planning on getting your hands on this device, we recommend to get it at the startup on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 10am EST by going HERE.
