This clearly means that the Chinese manufacturer is looking to play the whole game till the end. While many chose manufacturers seem to fold their card early, Oppo is still going very strong. The Oppo R1 is a genuine mid-range smartphone which is going to please a lot of people who like small sized smartphones. To be honest the Oppo R1 seems to be aimed at those who like decent sized goodness in their smartphones.
The smartphone comes with a 5 inch screen which only has HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The smartphone will also have an 8 MP rear facing camera but the front facing one will be an impressive 5 MP one. The Chinese maker do know the important of selfies, which is the emerging trend in this day and age. There will be a MediaTek quad core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz inside the smartphone as well as 1 GB of RAM. The Oppo R1 will come with 16 GB of storage space, which won’t be expandable via microSD slot. The smartphone ships with an impressive 2410 mAh battery which makes it amazing in our eyes.
The Oppo R1 will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean which is a shame as we are already on 4.4 Kit Kat. The smartphone is only scheduled to be available in China at this point. This is unfortunately why Oppo has yet to gain traction in international markets. The smartphone is said to retail for a price of around $410 which sounds reasonable to us. But Oppo is aiming big pricing a mid-ranged smartphone above $350 mark. Only time will tell whether the Oppo R1 is a success or not. We will keep you posted regarding further developments.
