Just a couple of days ago we taught our users how they can switch to the latest official release of Android 4.3 build for their Samsung Galaxy S4 phones. Now as great as that whole experience is there are a lot of things in the stock Samsung ROM that no one ever uses. If you’re wondering, yes I am talking about Samsung Knox. Now, thanks to the efforts of a XDA Recognized Developer (Friedrich420) that is finally a thing.

The ROM in question not only gets rid of Samsung Knox but also brings many different new features to your phone. Some of these features include a custom Kernel, the ROM being Prerooted, lots of tweaks for the stock SMS and MMS app, Google Camera with Photosphere along with Samsung’s stock camera, Flash player support, custom animations (especially while you boot up your phone) along with a pop up browser (ported from Samsung Galaxy Note 2).

While all of these features do sound great to be honest I was hooked with the sound of the ROM being Knox free and running on a custom kernel. Not only are all the features I hoped they would be but the ROM unlike so many others you may find, turned out to be quite fast and battery friendly.

Installing the ROM isn’t that much of a big deal and follows the age old patter. However, if you are new at this then there is no need to worry. All you need is a custom recovery set on your Samsung Galaxy S4. If you have that, then all you have to do is to download the ROM from here and simply flash it via the custom recovery and do a full wipe of your device (that includes the delvik and simple cache of your phone). So go ahead and give Echoe Custom ROM a try, I do hope you will find it satisfactory.
