Summary : Great Game but does have a few glitches and is Pay to Win.
After a very long delay, Blizzard finally decided to release their popular TCG Hearthstone to Android phones. The app is free to download for almost all flagship devices but it does have a long way to go from delivering the crisp PC experience on your phone.
For those of you are unaware, Hearthstone is a World of Warcraft based trading card game which is free to play yet pay to win. While this may act as a bit of a deterrent for most people, you can manage to achieve some success in the game by mindlessly grinding hours into the game. The details on how to play the game can be best explained by the in game tutorial but to summarize players have a choice to choose between 9 heroes, all of whom have their specific cards and powers to provide different strategies and aim to kill the other hero by summoning monsters using a set amount of mana crystals. To be a bit more brutally honest, if you have ever played any TCG such as Magic, the Gathering or Pokémon, you would not have any problems understanding the game.
The game is by no means a bad one and offers quite great graphics, interactive playing boards, amazing sound affects and in a pleasant surprise, doesn’t require to be linked to your Facebook or Twitter. However, there are times when the game presents quite a few glitches and becomes somewhat unresponsive to the touch controls under certain conditions. Blizzard has been trying to remove these glitches but it has been almost 3 months and I still have to often bang my head against the wall every time I face a minute disconnect or try to interact with certain cards using hero powers.
All in all, Hearthstone provides for quite a good time pass for limited times (especially for someone like me, who refuses to invest any money into the game) and is definitely worth an install for anyone who is looking to flex his brain muscles a bit and/or looking for a simple yet fun TCG to play.
