You can find a lot of games on the Play Store related to motorcycle racing but let’s face it thanks to games like Road Rash etc. our whole concept of motorcycle racing has been kind of ruined. I mean, whenever I see a racing game, I at once think of ramming my fists against the other drivers to knock them out of the race. It was in a search to calm those demons that I came across the game “Highway Rider”.

Highway Rider is quite different from your typical motorcycle racing games and games like Road Rash as well. In the game you aren’t really racing anyone but just speeding along a highway on your sweet ride trying to avoid getting hit. Of course if the developers would have left it at that, the game would have been quite bad. So to spice things up, you can perform near misses or ride perilously close to other vehicles in an attempt to boost your final score.

Your bike also has a nitros tank that you can tap to instantly boost your speed. Each near miss you perform adds a little nitros back into the tank so you can get that extra kick whenever you want to. Come to think of it, Highway Rider is just like an endless runner game in which your character is just riding a bike.

When you do crash, your character falls off the bike just like a rag doll but to make the whole thing more realistic, you do get an estimate hospital bill showcasing all the broken bones you had suffered in the fall.

There are two game modes you can play, Fugitive or Free Ride. In the Free Ride mode, you just ride along till you fall off whereas in the Fugitive mode you have cops chasing you and setting traps for you as well.

The game gives players gas caps for exceptional feats accomplished during each ride and these gas caps can be used to unlock various new upgrades as well as 7 unlockable characters. Alternatively, you can also choose to purchase gas caps with your real life money as well.

The graphics of the game may not be very spectacular but they still manage to add to the whole highway experience of the game and that is good enough in my books.

The controls of the game are quite simple and standard for a motorcycle game. You tap on the cylinder to go faster while tilting your device tilts your bike in that direction. You can also swipe on the screen to make your rider perform various tricks as well.

Overall, Highway Rider is quite a fun game to play. Sure, it may get a little boring after a few runs but then again which endless runner game doesn’t? Anyhow, you can grab the game for totally free from the Play Store by clicking the link given below.
