While we eagerly await get our hands on the highly anticipated Nokia X, there are certain apps that interest us more. For those of you who are confused, we are of course referring to the many apps that Nokia has replaced so that to deny its users access to Google Services. These apps include Nokia Maps, Nokia Store and things like that. Of course Nokia Maps tops the list of the apps we await by a mile but unfortunately it hasn’t been ported for other Android smartphones as of yet. However, the Nokia Store, the replacement for the Play Store, has been ported for all other Android devices and is available for users to simply flash in their devices like they would any other apk of an app.

Nokia Store 1 Nokia Store 2

Almost all the apps on the Nokia Store can be tried on any Android device but there are some apps that don’t run due to the fact that Nokia X will use a different framework and API then the one used by other major OEMs. So, don’t be discouraged if you run across such an app as chances are a variant of the app will be made available as soon as the phone hits major markets in Europe and US.

In any case, I must say I am quite a bit impressed from the overall GUI environment of the Nokia Store as it has a cool yet simplistic user friendly feel to it. Also the fact that they went for black as the background color instead of white kind of adds to the charm of the whole app. Apart from that, it’s just like the Play Store with different columns present to make searching for relevant or new apps easier.

If you’re interested in trying out the Nokia Store on your device, simply download the apk of the app from the link given at the end of this article and flash it in with the help of any file explorer (even stock) but do remember to enable installation of non-Play Store apps on your phone in the Settings menu first. Do tell us what you think of the whole Nokia environment and if it can compete with the Play Store or not.
