Now, I know sometimes there are apps available on the Play Store with the same name thus making the whole process of picking up the right app quite difficult. What’s more, quite often these apps tend to offer different functionalities completely. A prime example of which can be of the app, we are going to review today. The app is called RomManager and it is not to be confused with the previous Rom Manager app available on the Play Store, which allowed users to flash in various custom recoveries and manage a few settings of your ROM.
RomManager is an app that allows users to not only customize the ROM running on their Android device but it also allows them to tweak around with the device’s kernel. While the app allows for quite a lot of features, the full list according to the developer of the app is as follows:
- Fsync enabler/disabler
- CRToff anim enabler/disabler
- ext4 enhancements
- Disable IO stats
- Net tweaks, removing redirections, speed browsing
- Edit deepest sleep state
- Disable battery fair sleepers for better battery backup
- Vacuum for optimized databases
- GPS country chooser
- Governor and IO scheduler chooser
- GPU rendering
Of course to be able to use this app you need to have a rooted device running on a custom kernel. You also would need a ROM that supports CRT animations to be able to turn them on or off as well. Apart from that, flashing the app in your phone is quite easy as you can download the apk for RomManager from the end of this article and simply flash it in your phone by enabling the installation of non Play Store products from the Settings.
As for using the app, well the GUI of the app makes that quite easy with its easy to navigate menus. Of course, you should know what certain options would do as like with all root requiring apps, this app also doesn’t really hold your hand and provide a well detailed explanation of what each feature will accomplish. Therefore, if you’re somewhat lazy in Googling stuff up or have no idea what many of the above stated features are, I suggest you avoid this app. Otherwise, it’s a must have app for any device running a custom kernel, so go ahead and give it a try.
