If there is one problem with owning a good phone is that quite often you have 6-7 app pages to go through in your app drawer every time you want to find a specific app. Now, I know there is a whole built in search facility included in the app drawer just for this purpose and there are a lot of others apps available on the Play Store as well but quite frankly I prefer using t9 app dialer instead.

T9 app dialer is an app to search through all your installed apps and bring up the ones you are trying to look up. As the name of the app suggests, the app instead of using your standard QWERTY keyboard displays a T9 dial pad. Now, I know to most of you this might bring back good old memories while for others this will just be a pain in the neck but no matter on which side you are, once you get used to it, the T9 app dialer can really help you access your apps quite quickly.

The UI of the app is quite simple and has a nice Holo feel to it. The buttons are big and are placed just at the right distance from each other, so you can quite easily use one hand to type in the name of the app you want to search for while the app starts shortlisting all apps in your phone with similar names, on top of the T9 dialer. Usually there are 2 pages containing 3 app icons which start getting short listed. However, the app also does more than that and remembers 6 of your recently used apps as well and courteously enough displays them in the top 2 pages when you open the app.

The app can be integrated into the app drawer if you are using a custom launcher, else you can just place it on the hot seat next to the app launcher instead. To add a little more functionality to the app, you can long tap an app to bring up a menu that allows you to view the selected app’s information, uninstall it, pin to home screen or open up its Google Play Page as well.

Personally, I really love using the T9 app dialer as it provides quite a simple UI to search through your apps and is also courteous enough to go back on your mistakes and/or tell you if you have no apps with that name installed in your phone.

The T9 app dialer can be downloaded from the Play Store for totally free. However, you can purchase the pro version as well for $2.95 which includes some extra options. The links to both the versions can be found in the description below.
