With the jury still being out on the success of BlackBerry Priv, it seems that the company loves the initial boost in their sales the phone got for them as rumors of another BlackBerry Android device are in the air.
The device is currently rumored to be called BlackBerry Vienna and will honor the legacy of its predecessor by featuring a physical keyboard to compliment its touch screen. However, the pictures (as shown above) of the device which have surfaced do clearly show that the Vienna will go for a more permanent keyboard rather than a slide out one, something which the BlackBerry Priv has. The phone will also feature physical Android keys rather than the soft keys we all have gotten used to by this point.
Nothing about the specs of the phone is known at this point apart from the fact that it will feature a rear camera with a flash. Another thing to note in the leaked pictures is that there is no fingerprint scanner on the back, meaning that BlackBerry will stick to their guns and not cave in to the latest fad of having unnecessary sensors draining the battery.
As for the official unveiling and pricing of the device, nothing can be said for sure. The Vienna will most likely see an early 2016 release and considering that it doesn’t have a slide out keyboard, we are hoping that it will carry a cheaper price tag than the Priv which is available at a staggering price of $700.
The important thing to remember is that, all of these are still rumors and while the pictures do look somewhat official, it in no way means that the device won’t go through a bit of final touches to change its look ever so slightly. So, as always, it will be good for us to take all of this in with a grain of salt and try our best to not jump the gun.
