Motorola’s Droid Razr M is arguably one of the best mid-range device you could currently get, which has a sub-4.5″ display. While its edge-to-edge qHD (540 x 960 pixels) display may not be as sharp as the 720p display which adorns the likes of the Droid Razr HD or the Razr MAXX HD, the Razr M definitely offers maximum bang for you buck with its excellent battery life and Smart Actions optimization. For those who came in late, the Droid Razr M was also the first mid-range device released by Moto after its acquisition by Google earlier this year.
One of the minor grouses that people may have had against this otherwise excellent value device, would be the internal storage capacity which is limited to 8GB, and perhaps the smaller and lower resolution display especially when compared alongside the bigger HD displays of the Droid Razr HD and the recently released Full HD Droid DNA.
Well, rumor has it that Motorola may be working on a solution to that quandary. As per an anonymous tip received by one of our fellow mobile blogs PhoneArena, Moto may be planning to release an updated version of the Droid Razr M with a bigger and better display and upgraded storage capacity. With 1080p displays fast becoming the norm for high-end smartphones in 2013, it is logical that mid-range devices will hit the ground running 720p displays, and the updated Razr M HD will tout a bigger 4.5-inch 720p display. Additional specs that are rumored include, a whopping 3300 mAh battery, that puts it right in the league of the Razr MAXX HD, doubled internal storage at 16GB, with the microSD card slot if you need more. The internals remain the same with the 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus chip, 1GB RAM and the Adreno 225 GPU to do the graphical heavy lifting.
Neither Verizon, nor Motorola have made any official comment on this rumor so far, and it’s still a bit dicey to ascertain whether this is real or not. But I guess if it were, then CES would be a good time to make it known to the world that the Razr M HD is arriving, and CES is just a couple of weeks away.
