Are you one of those who loved the Moto Razr? Well Samsung is probably making a smartphone called the Samsung Galaxy Folder. The Samsung Galaxy Folder as the name suggests will be a clamshell or more commonly known as the flip phone. And no it won’t be a java based one either, the Samsung Galaxy Folder will be a fully loaded Android smartphone.
Although we have passed away from the physical keyboards to virtual ones, many still feel the need of physical ones. The Samsung Galaxy Folder is probably going to be another gamble on Samsung’s part, much like the Galaxy Note. But we think that there is still place for quality flip phones in the world and Samsung knows that too. I have often heard my dad complaint about the touch screen keypads and saying that it would be nice to have a physical one.
The Samsung Galaxy Folder is rumored to be released next month in Korea, which is according to several Korean sites which are stating that. The details of the Samsung Galaxy Folder apparently originated from an unnamed Samsung executive. So it must be true. The Samsung Galaxy Folder will have a dual core Snapdragon S4 processor, a low resolution screen of 800 x 480 pixels, LTE support and a special user interface designed for flipping action (not the bad one). The Samsung Galaxy Folder will run on Android version 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
Samsung has previously dabbled in the clamshell phone market before. The made a premium device for the Chinese market and even got the superstar Jackie Chan to pose for it. While this may seem like a great idea, we don’t think that the Samsung Galaxy Folder is intended for international release. So what do you think? Will you be purchasing an Android flip smartphone? Or do you consider the “traditional” touch screen interface perfect?
