Samsung has announced earlier today that it will be launching a new member of the famous galaxy family, The Samsung Galaxy Grand. The latest phone is yet another in the stream of 5 inched smartphone’s announcements, but that is all what is common in the high end phones and Samsung Galaxy Grand. The phone is a mid-ranged beautiful looking device which has a striking resemblance to the other Galaxy models.
Unfortunately the 5 inch screen of Samsung Galaxy Grand is only big in size, not in resolution. The smartphone’s display will be a WVGA one, supporting a mere 480×800 resolution. The processor of unknown model will be 1.2 GHZ Dual core, the Ram is rather respectable 1GB. Also 8GB worth of internal memory will be slightly less from what we would have liked; there is a strong possibility that the device will have a microSD card slot for further expansion. A 2100 mAh battery will be able to power the device exceptionally as we suspect the display won’t be as demanding, neither the processor will need the extra juice.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand will have an 8 MP camera with autofocus on the back and a 2MP shooter on the front. The device will be running on the latest Android OS iteration namely 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, also Samsung will ship it with its custom UI the TouchWiz. There no report of LTE being on board the smartphone, although we can see the standard 850/900/1900/2100MHz frequencies. The Galaxy Grand only has 21mbps HSPA+ which is mostly used in European and Asian markets. The smartphone will come in two models, one with single SIM slot and the other with two of them. We also suspect that the device will be targeted on the aforementioned markets rather than US. Also the device might not make it to US altogether.
