As of this moment Sony is finally finished with the IFA stage by announcing quite a few devices which included the much anticipated Xperia Z3 and the SmartWatch 3. While each of these devices deserve to get a headline on their own, we will try to summarize them all for anyone who’s not really interested in reading all the unrelated mumbo jumbo that comes with each device release.
First up, we’ll discuss the Xperia Z3 and its variants. The Z3 will pack a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor running on a 5.2 inch 1080p screen, 3100 mAH battery with a 20.7 MP camera that has the ability to record videos in 24k. Of course, like all Sony flagships, the Xperia Z3 has an IP6 rating to match. The device will be available in “autumn” in white, black, copper, and silver-green colors. Pricing details aren’t available as of yet but we expect it to be somewhere around the $650 mark.
Next up are the Xperia Z3 Compact and the Xperia E3. Like all miniature versions of the Xperia Z series, the Xperia Z3 Compact also packs the same internal hardware as its big brother and only differs by having a 4.6” screen running on a resolution of 720p. The Xperia E3 on the other hand skips out on quite a lot as it only packs a measly Snapdragon 400 processor running on a 4.5” screen with a 854×480 resolution and 1GB of RAM.
Sony has also went ahead and launched an 8 inch tablet called as the Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet. The tablet packs the same specs as the Z3 flagship phone and runs on a screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 and a battery of 4100mAH.
The one thing that really excited about the Z3 series was the presentation in which Sony showed off the PlayStation 4’s Remote Play System. Not only will users be able to use the PlayStation 4’s controllers with their devices like a Moga controller but they will also be able to stream and play PS4 games via a WiFi network, which is something awesome if you’re someone who owns a PS4 and loves to game.
If all of that wasn’t enough, Sony also went ahead to unveil the SmartWatch 3 and the SmartBand Talk. The Smartwatch 3 has a 1.6″ 320 by 320 display. It’s powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A7 processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 420mAh battery. While the SmartBand Talk is a wristband that people can use to receive calls and keep track of their movements thanks to its inbuilt accelerometer and altimeter sensors.
