After the warm welcome the Sony Xperia Z received at the CES, it was only about time that Sony revealed its mid to budget range offerings too. The Xperia SP and the Xperia L are rumored to be inbound for the Mobile World Congress being held next month. While we have been hearing rumors circulating about the other Xperia devices, we were not show what alphabets they will come attached with. While other companies like Samsung, announce their budget phones before the grand opening of flagship devices, Sony on the other hand is doing just the opposite. This year the company launched its Xperia Z well ahead of other top tier devices.
The Xperia SP which was previously rumored to be codenamed HuaShan and numbers C530X, and the budget Xperia L numbered C201X came to light. The confirmations came from an Indonesian certification site Postel. Previously the website was able to leak the names of Xperia P and Xperia U very much accurately. Hence we have to believe that they are providing somewhat reliable information.
According to the leaked specs the Xperia SP will run a 1.7 dual core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU. The smartphone will have a HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The little brother Xperia L is supposedly packed with a 1 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 Plus chip. Both of the upcoming Xperias will pack Android version 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. No more information regarding these too devices has been leaked. But we are very much sure that Sony will be bringing the siblings to the Mobile World Congress. The success of these mid-budget smartphones relies on the pricing of course. Customers will not be willing to pay a premium price for the specs listed above. Fortunately we will have more details from the company itself, come next month.
