ZTE Geek is a smartphone and yet it is deliberately named ZTE Geek. We can’t imagine how it may feel keeping a Geek in your pocket, but we can be sure that it will provide performance. The ZTE Geek was officially announced earlier today and is said to pack an Intel processor. Intel has been trying to make it big in the Android business but so far we have yet to see it gain mainstream popularity. Last year Intel chips were crammed into many low to mid ranged smartphones but it was Lenovo which made a bold move.
The Lenovo IdeaPhone K900 packed an Intel processor and its eye-catching looks were enough to attract many. The Intel processor performed really well when subjected to benchmarks and it really helped us to see Intel in a new light. It seems that the largest PC processor manufacturer is not giving up, the ZTE Geek is a clear indication of that.
The ZTE Geek packs a 2 GHz dual core Intel Atom Z2580 processor which is also known as Clover Trail+. Even though both smartphones carry the same processor ZTE Geek beats the Lenovo IdeaPhone K900 by clocking it 0.2 GHz higher than the 1.8 GHz one found on K900. While the Intel chip may bring water in your mouth, the rest of the specs will sedate that feeling. The smartphone packs mid ranged specs and is likely to be priced accordingly.
ZTE Geek packs a 5 inch screen with HD 720p resolution and 293 ppi pixel density. There is 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage on the smartphone. An 8 MP camera is featured on the rear while a 1 MP snapper is found on the front. The ZTE Geek carries a 2,300 mAh battery which may be able to carry it through the day, although Intel chips are demanding. No word about its price or release has been given, we will be sure to point them out once they get announced.
