The ZTE Geek U988S is garnering some attention these days. The reason behind that is its processor, which is going to be the flagship from Nvidia. We have yet to see any smartphone running on the new Tegra 4 processor and ZTE Geek U988S will probably be the world’s first smartphone to house it. Judging by the great performance of the Tegra 3, we are betting that Tegra 4 will be able to deliver much more. Nvidia is famous for its GPUs in the PC market and the Tegra line of processors are also graphically superior. ZTE Geek U988S will probably deliver great graphics for mobile games as well as some applications, and Tegra 4 will responsible for that.

Previously we have reported that the ZTE Geek U988S will be the world’s first smartphone to come with the Nvidia Tegra 4 processor. Today we have another confirmation that indeed that is the case. The ZTE Geek U988S will also come with updated specs, previously the smartphone was only HD 720p, but today’s leak suggest that the smartphone will come with a full HD screen. The front facing camera will also be getting a bump to 2 MP from the rumoured 1 MP one. The back camera however will remain at 8MP.

This is a great step taken by ZTE, by upgrading the specs of ZTE Geek U988S they are making it more relevant to today’s flagship standards. The ZTE Geek U988S, with its updated specs will however be only released in China for China Mobile’s proprietary TD-SCDMA network. The original ZTE Geek was announced back in April and was supposed to launch in the third quarter of 2013. There is no confirmation whether the new changes will be done before the given time frame or not. Nonetheless we are quite excited to check out the ZTE Geek U988S and to test drive Nvidia’s price and joy, the Tegra 4. We will keep you posted.
